Grower Champagne. Steeped raspberry and almond skin aromas and flavors are framed by zesty acidity in this distinctive version, while the fine mousse provides a creamy cloak for the firm structure, carrying accents of pink grapefruit pith, ground anise, minerally saline and chalk. Disgorged February 2019. Drink now through 2023. 92 Points Wine Spectator, December 2019
The new disgorgement that we received has put flesh back on the bones of this rose. The nose shows cream wild strawberry, and a touch of woodsy spice. The palate has been softened up by 7 gram of dosage with soft fruits and a baked peach and strawberry fruit tone balanced by moderate acid. D&M Tasting Notes, June 2018.
50% Pinot Noir, 50% Chardonnay, 9% still red wine from Orizeaux . Assemblage 2013 Stainless Steel (for Chardonnay), old oak for PInot Noir.
I drink a lot of this wine at home, and every bottle makes me glad. It’s a Champagne of impact; it’s just earthy enough to be marked as a grower but just polished enough to indicate fine Champagne. It’s full of character, solid enough to be toothsome, silky enough to gliss across the tongue.Base wines are unfiltered. 80-20 steel to wood. Average 32-year vines. – Terry Theise
