Pernet & Pernet 2018 Blanc de Blancs Extra Brut Champagne

100% Chardonnay, 50% oak, dosage 3gm vintage 2018. Hailing from a single parcel in 1er Cru Vertus, this is a stunning expression of maybe the best vineyard in Vertus, on the north of the village touching Le Mesnil-sur-Oger. Lovely creamy texture with hints of quince and citrus. The oak adds an expansive palate but all held in check. Texture and tension with great length.

Kurt Zimmerman is going from strength to strength at Champagne Pernet et Pernet which is based in Vertus. The family owns 9 hectares of vineyards across Vertus, Ambonnay and Bouzy and have bistorically been operating as an "RC "with bottles produced by the various Cooperatives in Vertus and Le Mesnil-sur-Oger. However, Kurt now has established an "RM" range from their own organic vineyard parcels. Kurt has been farming his best parcels in Ambonnay and Vertus organically for a number of years and finally decided to produce his own Champagnes. He has no press so his friend Pierre Larmandier presses the grapes.This year Kurt will have his own modern press and an extended and renovated new cuverie which will allow the family to bottle 4 of their 9 hectares of organic vineyards, spread across Vertus, Bergeres Vertus, Ambonnay, Bouzy, and Tauxieres. - AUSTRALIAN IMPORTER NOTES
