George Dickel D&M Barrel Pick 17 Yr. Tennessee Whisky

Single Barrel #15412. In the glass this pours a deep golden hue with orange highlights. The nose opens with a rounded sense of toffee, spun sugar, candied ginger, wood shavings, sweet corn husk and loose black tea leaf. The palate has a rounded and supple mouthfeel with dark toffee, milk chocolate, oak spice, black pepper and fried corn cakes. D&M Tasting Notes

This particular barrel #15412, was distilled on May 5, 2006, Nicole has a soft spot for this distilling season as she has earmarked a number of single barrels that were distilled in the spring of 2006. Because George Dickel utilizes single floor rick houses, the proof often drops over the years as opposed to rising as is often the case in multi-floored Kentucky rick houses. As of this writing we haven’t gotten a dump date, but doing simple math, this barrel spent at least 17.5+ years in oak before being chill filtered and put into bottle early in 2024.
