Du Miquer Folle Blanche Bas Armagnac

This folle blanche, bottled at 45%, was developed for use in cocktails at San Francisco's Trou Normand, but after their pre-covid closure, we found a bit less than a case still in our warehouse. While this armagnac is delightful on its own, we would suggest you make a cocktail with it: we personally like 1.5 ounces Miquer, .5 ounces agricole rhum, a bar spoon of fresh squeezed lemon juice, a bar spoon of simple sugar and orange bitters, shaken with ice and served neat. This tiny armagnac producer is located in Landais village Hontanx, an area unofficially known as the Grand Bas-Armagnac. The sables fauves soils (iron rich sands) provide a perfect foothold for the folle blanche grapes, which cover 5 hectares (12 acres) of vineyards. Owned by the Lasserre family (once well known distillers in the area that converted wine into eau de vie for hundreds of small producers during the latter part of the 20th century), Jacques Lasserre now sells the families remaining barrels to connoisseurs who have grown to appreciated the families precious remaining nectars.
