Berthier Coteaux du Giennois 2022 Sauvignon Blanc

Calling Sancerre lovers gobsmacked by the price hikes in that region. This comes from the tiny appellation of Coteaux du Giennois which is on the other side of the Loire and thirty miles downriver from Sancerre. Here the soils are quite similar to Sancerre with Limestone and Silex predominating. This producer farms organically with native fermentation in the cellar. The nose opens with aromas of guava, tropical fruits, citrus, and a clay slash black stone minerality. The palate is light with a balanced fruit lift of citrus and tropical fruits nicely balanced by dark stone minerality. D&M Tasting Notes
