A. Bergère Brut Origine Brut Champagne

This has a cleaner and more focused style to the nose with citrus, green apple, apricot, a kiss of barrel spice and a saline whiff. The palate is just shy of moderate in weight with good acid and a flavor set that echoes the nose: lemon, apricot, spice, and light suggestion of barrel. This is enjoyable now, and should last easily through 2033. D&M Tasting Notes

It is a blend of 70% Chardonnay, 20% Pinot Noir and 10% Pinot Meunier, raised mostly in stainless steel with a small amount in oak. It is predominantly from the 2020 vintage with 30% reserve drawn from the 2017 - 2019 vintages. [Geek note: 2020 was an excellent vintage in Champagne, but the Comite set the allowed harvest quite low to compensate for the early Pandemic reduction in Champagne consumption 4 grams dosage.
