Wittmann Riesling Trocken Estate 2024
This estate has been in the Rheinhessen since the1663. They own a little over 25 hectares of vineyards in and around the town of Westhofen. The have farmed organically for over 30 years and the current family steward Phillip converted to biodynamics in the field in the early to mid 1990s. In the cellar it is fermented with native yeasts and matured in large, neutral oak casks. The nose opens with a bright and precise aroma set of slate minerality, light lime zest and flesh with just there stone fruit pit. On the palate this is just shy of moderate in weight with a good texture from it neutral barrel ageing and a flavor set of lime, wet stones to slate, and some zesty lemon notes to finish. - D&M TASTING NOTES (MK, May 2026)
CRITICAL ACCLAIM:
“Cool and herbal on the nose, this youthful, entry-level dry riesling has a wealth of citrus aromas and a chalky character on the compact, medium-bodied palate. Impressive length for this category, and the crisp, lemony acidity is beautifully integrated. The blend contains declassified wines from 15-year-old vines in the Auelerde and Brunnenhuschen GG sites. From biodynamically grown grapes with Respekt certification. Drink from release.” - 92 PTS, JAMES SUCKLING (04/2025)
