Turley Petite Syrah Aida Vineyard (Library Release) 1994
This was quite a delight to taste at the Chambers and Chambers ‘Kid’s Table' tasting in August 2026. This was the second year that Turley had been operating, and the bottle that was showcased then as well as the bottles we have on the shelf have been in Turley's library since its release. Wine language is quite a funny prospect, to a trade professional I would say that it is in its secondary to tertiary, but for general purposes this shows aromas of cocoa, dried plums and cherries, some cedar notes, and a light minerality. On the palate this is fully resolved with light spice and good acid with delicate notes of cocoa, crushed rocks, and dried fruits. MK D&M Tasting Notes August 2026
CRITICAL ACCLAIM:
“Dr. Larry Turley (brother of Helen Turley) has employed his sibling to help make these exquisite Zinfandels and Petite Syrahs. The debut releases were the superb 1993s… The 1994s are even more concentrated and impressive than the 1993s… There is no doubt about it - as a fan of the underrated Petite Syrah, I have never tasted greater Petite Syrahs than the 1994 Aida or 1994 Hayne… The thick, opaque, black-colored 1994 Petite Syrah Aida Vineyard possesses 14.1% alcohol. Remarkably, the tannin is barely noticeable because of the enormous, thick layers of concentrated fruit that carries vast quantities of glycerin and fantastic extract. This wine is only an infant, but it will be relatively flattering to drink in 1996. It should last for 20-25+ years…” - 95-98 PTS., ROBERT PARKER, THE WINE ADVOCATE (DEC., 1995)
