Pascal Lejeune Cuvée Metonymie Trois Cepages
59% Pinot Meunier, 32% Chardonnay and 9% Pinot Noir. It mostly comes from the 2018 vintage where malo was blocked with the balance coming from 2019, which did undergo malolactic conversion. This was initially fermented in mostly stainless steel with some old oak barrels. The domaine is quite unique in that they make their own dosage from their grapes as opposed to utilizing sugar. The nose opens with mirabelle and red plums with currants, almondine and clay. The palate has a good tension and weight to it with golden apples, yellow plum, currants, delicate nuts, and a clay minerality to finish. - D&M TASTING NOTES (MK)
IMPORTER NOTES:
ABOUT THE PRODUCER: “The origins of this winery started with a few hectares of vines planted in the early 1900s in Moussy, on the southern slopes of Epernay. The family started selling the grapes under the label of their own Domaine beginning in the mid-1950s and, since 1995, been run by Pascal and Sandrine, with their son Thibaut Lejeune joining them in 2015. Their 4.4 hectares of organically and biodynamically grown vines have been certified ‘Viticulture durable en Champagne’ and ‘Haute Valeur Environnementale’.”
