Niepoort Docil Vinho Verde 2025

Made with the indigenous varietal Loureiro in the green hills east of Porto, the nose opens with a bit more fruit versus the last 2024 iteration with aromas of lime zest, and passionfruit balanced by good minerality. ABOUT THE PRODUCER: “Niepoort is known for bringing together friends and winemakers across regions in creative, boundary-pushing collaborations. The Dócil comes from the heart of Vinho Verde and features one of the region’s most influential figures: Luís Cerdeira, formerly of Soalheiro.”

OVERVIEW: "This collaborative wine is a Vinho Verde shaped by Cerdeira’s signature precision and depth, produced in partnership with Dirk Niepoort and his team. It's a natural fit: both Cerdeira and Niepoort are known for their restless creativity and passion for expressing terroir in distinctive, authentic ways. Docil is made from 100% Loureiro grapes from 20+ year old vines grown on granitic soils that are farmed organically. With bright notes matched by concentration, this is a Vinho Verde that shows depth that is a rare find in this category."

HARVEST & VINIFICATION: “Whole bunches were pressed gently, then the must was left to settle before fermenting at a low temperature in stainless steel tanks. No malolactic fermentation. The wine is then aged for five months in stainless steel.”
