Kilchoman Impex Cask Evolution 15 Year Oloroso Cask Finish

OVERVIEW: “The very active US importer ImpEx Beverages is continuing its renowned Cask Evolution Series with two new bottlings. No. 01/2024 is a 15-year-old Oloroso sherry cask full maturation. The whisky was initially matured for just over 12 years in an Oloroso sherry butt and was then transferred to an Oloroso sherry hogshead, where it was stored for a further 3 years. This is not only one of the oldest sherry cask maturations ever bottled by Kilchoman, but also one of the last remaining Oloroso sherry casks in Kilchoman’s warehouses, dating back to 2008. With two sister casks having just been released in Germany in the Sister Casks Series, the remaining stock of these old Oloroso sherry casks is said to be less than 10.”

TASTING: “NOSE - Stewed dark fruits, sweet spices, fresh pastry with gentle waves of peat smoke; PALATE - Smouldering peat smoke, nutmeg, dark honey and tropical fruit; FINISH - Meaty, with dusty sweetness and tobacco.”
