Graham's Vintage Port 1983

PRODUCER NOTES:

OVERVIEW: "Drawn from the finest parcels across Graham’s four estates, this Vintage Port is only produced in exceptional years. The Graham’s 1983 is known for its exceptional balance, structure, and ageing potential. An exceptional vintage with outstanding and powerful wines with tremendous depth of colour."

TASTING: “With a rich and intense nose of ripe red fruits, combined with concentrated floral aromas of violets and minty eucalyptus. On the palate showing a full-bodied structure, bold tannins, and a long and intense fruit finish.”

CRITICAL ACCLAIM:

"A superb achievement from a very underrated year. Deep dark ruby-purple, with rich floral and violet aromas, full-bodied, with masses of strawberry flavors, full tannins and a long finish." - 93 PTS, WINE SPECTATOR (1989)

"The 1983, like most vintage ports, seems more forward than normal but has a great depth of very ripe, viscous, unctuous, plummy, tarry fruit and significant tannin in its long finish. It is black-purple in color. I doubt that it will be either as profound or as long-lived as the great 1977, but is is certainly one of the top two or three ports of this vintage, and better than the excellent 1980." - 92 PTS, ROBERT PARKER, WINE ADVOCATE (01/1989)
