Domaine Mann Cremant d'Alsace Brut Nature 2021
D&M STAFF NOTES:
ABOUT THE PRODUCER: The estate was established after the second World War, and is now helmed by Sébastien Mann, who returned to the family estate in 2006 after practical winemaking experiences across France, most notably at Vouette et Sorbee in Champagne's Aube region. In the fields the vines have been certified organic since 2008 with more stringent biodynamic certification being acheived across their 12.8 hectares in 2015.
OVERVIEW: This is entirely from the cool acid forward vintage of 2021 and is composed of 52% Auxerrois, 38% Pinot Noir, and 10% Chardonnay, and from vines with an average age of 35+ years. 60% of the cuvee was raised in old oak barrels with the balance being fermented and rested in stainless steel. After spending 26 months en tirage it was disgorged without the addition of dosage.
TASTING: The nose opens with a present aroma of a bake shop with good autolysis, apricot, citrus, cream, mixed spice, and some barrel. On the palate this is moderate in weight with stone fruits, cream, lemon confit, and a kiss of barrel to finish. (01/2026)
