Caze Thibaut Jossais 2019

IMPORTER NOTES:

OVERVIEW: "Cazé-Thibaut “Les Jossias” 2019 is a refined, terroir-driven Pinot Noir Blanc de Noirs, blending bright red fruit with vivid minerality, saline spice, and subtle oak texture. It’s structured yet elegant—an ideal showcase of Vallée de la Marne’s chalky-clay terroir, offering great drinkability now and over the next 5 years."

TASTING: "Bright straw-yellow with a fine, persistent mousse. Vibrant aromas: red and orchard fruits – think wild strawberries, red currant,
lemon-tinged apple – with a saline-nutty hint and subtle oak influence. Fruit flavors: red berries (strawberry, cherry), green apple, citrus zest with tangy redcurrant complexity. Texture: Oriented by lively tension and creamy depth, with pronounced saline-umami accents and oak spice rounding mid-palate."

D&M  NOTES:

ABOUT THE PRODUCER: Cazé-Thibaut, a tiny producer that has been working a mere 5.5 acres of vineyard land in Chatillon-Sur-Marne for ten generations. Today, Fabien Cazé has fully taken over leadership of the estate after spending time working with Alexandre Chartogne (Champagne Chartogne-Taillet) and adopting the new wave of winemaking in the region. Since returning to the family's holdings and after a handful of compelling vintages, Fabien has also become part of the select, emerging grower society "Terre et Vins de Champagne".  As he grows as a winemaker, Fabien's focus is on crafting distinctive wines that promote the terroir of his single plots located in Châtillon, Vandières and Reuil, all on the northern bank of the Marne river. He makes only about 14,000 bottles per vintage using organically grown grapes, minimal intervention and a house style that is pure and precise.
