ABOUT THE PRODUCER: "Anselmo Mendes, originally from Monção and from a family with ties to agriculture, is one of the most respected winemakers in Portugal and internationally. With a background in Agronomy, he specialized in Oenology and quickly became one of the most recognized Portuguese producers worldwide. Known as "Mr. Alvarinho," Anselmo Mendes has worked for over 30 years with what is now Portugal's "queen" grape variety-Alvarinho. A pioneer in experimentation and innovation, he explored techniques such as fermentation and aging in barrels and skin contact, elevating this grape variety to new dimensions. His passion transformed tradition into art, and his name became synonymous with excellence in Portuguese wine. It was in 1998 that Anselmo Mendes began his personal project, creating wines with his own signature style in the Monção and Melgaço sub-region. He opted for an innovative style - dry, elegant and mineral wines that express the purity of Alvarinho - and quickly gained national recognition, being distinguished as "Winemaker of the Year" by Revista de Vinhos (Wine Magazine). It was the beginning of a long journey that would forever consecrate him as the "Lord of Alvarinho". Currently, Anselmo Mendes works with grapes from his own production, already having a total of 50 hectares of the Alvarinho variety at his Quinta da Torre estate in Monção - the terroir of excellence for his wines. This property is now the largest expanse of Alvarinho vineyards in Portugal and a living symbol of his passion and commitment to quality."
