Liwa Skin Ferment Albarino 2024

This was fermented on its skins. The nose shows sea spray, orange peel, dried peach, apricot, thyme, sweet basil, and a light mango character. The palate is just shy of moderate in weight with a textured style with mango and banana chips, apricot and hit of sweet basil. - D&M TASTING NOTES

TASTING: “The nose shows sea spray, orange peel, dried peach, apricot, thyme, sweet basil, and fresh mango. Palate is textured with bright, refreshing acidity and notes of mango and banana chips, apricot and a hint of sweet basil.”

VINEYARD: “Liwa is the Miwok name for water, and these thirst-quenching wines are made in collaboration with our friends at Inizi for everyday drinking. All farming is organic and the only addition to the wine at any point is sulphur dioxide. A portion of the proceeds will go to the Native American Rights Fund / 1% for the Planet.”

WINEMAKING: “Fruit was harvested and destemmed, then fermented in a stainless steel tank with skins and no cold soak. The wine was allowed to ferment at 75 degrees and was pumped over twice daily during fermentation. No punchdowns were used during fermentation. Once brix were negative the wine was pressed and racked to a stainless steel tank to allow to finish malolactic fermentation. The wine is bottled unfiltered.”
