BACKGROUND INFO: "in the Berthier family, the profession of winegrower has been handed down from father to son for five generations. They took over the reins in 2012 and continue the family history.
Clément strives to bring out the very best of each terroir in the vinification process, ensuring that each wine is as excellent as possible and also manages the sales side of the business. Florian loves his terroirs and has always enjoyed working outdoors. To him, falls the daily task of adapting to the vineyards’ needs, monitoring their growth and catering to their every whim.
Between Gien and Cosne-sur-Loire, this 191-hectare vineyard lies within a temperate Loire River-influenced climate. Coteaux du Giennois, a youthful appellation resonating with winegrowing history since the 2nd century, now produces authentic wines unveiling terroir uniqueness. Vines flourish on varied plots: 50% silex soil from St. Pére, 30% limestone, and 20% Loire-side clay, bestowing wines with captivating complexity. When they reach the winery, the picked grapes are softly pressed. The juice is left to settle for about 36 hours. Natural fermentation starts in a controlled temperature (15-18°C). The wine matures with its fine lees for a few months before bottling in the spring."
