Adrien Renoir Grand Cru Le Terroir V21
D&M NOTES (MK, 02/2025):
TASTING: The nose opens with aromas of toast, red apple, cream, hazelnuts, passionfruit, kumquat, and just-there barrel notes. The palate has a racy seam of acidity with a flavor set of toast, bitter almond, mixed citrus, red and yellow apples, mixed spices, and a wet stone minerality to finish. We evaluated this over the better part of a week, and as it gained additional complexity and interest, we think this will have no problem aging from now through 2035 or beyond.
PRODUCTION: As the name implies, it is drawn predominately from the cold 2021 vintage with the addition of roughly 20% from the family’s solera. It is composed of 50% Pinot Noir and 50% Chardonnay, all from the slopes of Verzy. The initial fermentation occurred in old oak barrels where the resulting wine rested for 8 months. In the spring, the wine went through the Champagne process and after being aged on its lees for 20 months was disgorged in February of 2024 with a scant .8 grams per liter of dosage.
