Bowmore 1982 31 Year Duncan Taylor Tantalus
The Whisky
This 31-year-old Bowmore, distilled in 1982 and bottled in 2013 by Duncan Taylor, hails from a single cask (No. 85023) at 48.5% ABV.
The Bottler: Duncan Taylor
Founded in Glasgow in 1938, Duncan Taylor transitioned to independent bottling in 2001 under Euan Shand. Relocating to Huntly, Aberdeenshire, it leverages a historic cask portfolio to rank among Scotland’s top independent bottlers.
The "Tantalus" Concept
A Tantalus is a locked wooden stand securing whisky. Duncan Taylor’s version features a hand-blown glass decanter, encased in a handcrafted Tantalus made from the whisky’s cask staves, paired with a custom leather pouch for elegance and security.
The Distillery: Bowmore
Islay’s oldest licensed distillery (1779), Bowmore retains traditional floor maltings and a maritime character, with much of the distillery situated on the seawall.
