Balvenie 21 Year Portwood Finish Single Malt Scotch Whisky

The Balvenie 21 Year Old PortWood is celebrated as one of the finest expressions in the Balvenie range and a standout Speyside whisky. Crafted by transferring rare single malt to port casks, it is meticulously monitored by Malt Master David C. Stewart MBE to ensure the port influence enhances its character without overshadowing its original qualities. Since its 1996 release, it has garnered numerous prestigious awards.

Aged for 20 years in American Oak casks before finishing in port pipes for the final year, this whisky stands apart from sherry and bourbon-dominated single malts. The aim is to add a fruity layer while preserving Balvenie’s "light and floral" signature style.

Tasting Notes

Nose: Fresh raspberries, blackberries, honey, and beeswax blend with musty, sophisticated notes of dusty libraries, bakery treats, and grassy stems.

Palate: Full-bodied with bold berries, spice, redcurrants, and cranberries, complemented by peppery oak, honey, leather, tobacco, and nuttiness.

Finish: Long and drying, with pepper, hazelnut brittle, wine notes, and Balvenie’s signature honey lingering.
