Cadenhead 16 Year Enigma Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky

OVERVIEW: What is in a name? That is a bit of what is behind the Enigma line from Cadenhead. Sometimes it is a lot from an truly unknown distillery, sometimes it is from a producer that doesn't want their name mentioned. In this instance the hive mind of the internet seems to think that this is an unknown unknown, ie they are not playing coy, Cadenhead does not know the source for this.

TASTING: The nose opens with orchard fruits, white cherry, peanut skin, cigar box, spice, and a bit of floral notes. The palate has a good texture almost to oily with a flavor set of white cherry, peanut, nougat, earth, and tobacco with a honey lift on the back of the palate. An intriguing bottle, for sure.

“Finished in Pineau des Charentes wine casks since 2020, this secret Speyside bottling features complex notes including grape must, rye bread, heather honey, dark chocolate and stem ginger. (Distilled in 2008; Bottled in Feb, 2025; 51.9% ABV)”
