Bruichladdich 18 Year Islay Single Malt Scotch Whiskey
D&M NOTES:
TASTING: The nose opens with red apple, nougat, butterscotch, apple butter, sea spray, some mixed baking spices, and an earthy forest floor/ dunnage warehouse note. On the palate this has a good sense of texture with flavors of apple butter (baking spices and baked apple), pear, pecan, some dulce de leche, savory salt, barrel char and a bit of earth. (MK, 06/2025)
PRODUCTION: ThIs whisky was distilled by reknowned Islay Master Distiller Jim McEwan predominately in 2004 with a handful distilled in 2005 from unpeated barley sourced from the Scottish mainland and aged in a mix of predominantly 3rd fill ex-Bourbon barrels with some 2nd fill Sauternes, and Port wine casks. After 18 years of maturation on Islay, 59 barrels were vatted together and then cut with water to 50% ABV. This is non-chill filtered with no color added whisky which allows the brightness of this singular dram to shine through.
