Benoit Lahaye 2014 Millesime Extra Brut Champagne
OVERVIEW: Benoît Lahaye has been producing wine at his five-hectare Bouzy domaine since 1993, and just a few years after taking over the estate, he began experimenting with organic and biodynamic farming. Certified organic since 2007 and biodynamic since 2010, Lahaye plows one-third of his Bouzy vineyards with his own horse, Tamise.
"Disgorged after nine years sur lattes in December 2024 with a dosage of 2.7 grams per liter, the 2014 Millésime continues to evolve with grace. From a relatively cool growing season—sunnier than 2013 yet still defined by a long ripening period and a late September harvest—it is what Benoît Lahaye calls “a winegrower’s vintage,” rewarding meticulous vineyard work. The nose offers aromas of acacia blossom, yellow apple, brioche and clear honey. Despite early aromatic evolution, the wine remains structurally taut and precise. Full-bodied and enveloping, with bright acidity and a chalky finish, it combines both maturity and vitality." - 95 PTS, KRISTAPS KARKLINS, THE WINE ADVOCATE (05/2025)
