Foursquare 16 Year Magisterium Mark XXVI Barbados Rum

D&M Tasting Notes:

Full and opulent, Magisterium leads with coffee, black sesame paste, and brown butter on the nose. The palate expands this into a decadent spread of banoffee pie, pineapple upside-down cake, butterscotch, and burnt caramels. A few drops of water (more than welcome on this 58% rum) open the palate appreciably, bringing more brown butter, as well as toffee, toasted hazelnuts, cinnamon toast, mulled orange and a touch of rancio. –DI, April 2026

Producer Notes:

A blend of three distinct 16 Year Single Blended Rums, distilled in the copper Double-Retort Pot Still and the Continuous Twin Column Coffey Still of Foursquare. 
Two of the rums were double maturations, one aging 3 years in Ex-Bourbon Casks, then 13 additional years in Ex-Oloroso Sherry Barrels - the other aging 9 years in Ex-Bourbon followed by 7 years in Ex-Oloroso Sherry.
The last was a Single Blended Rum matured entirely in Ex-Bourbon Casks for 16 years. All aging, blending and bottling occurring entirely on-site, at Foursquare Rum Distillery in Barbados.
