Laherte Freres Rose de Meunier Extra Brut Champagne

The nose opens with a brightness and aromas of kumquat, tangerine, rose petal, dried strawberry, cranberry, crushed rocks and delicate mint notes. On the palate this is lively with a flavor set of tangerine, florals, blood orange, mint, strawberry, and clay. It is made in such a way that combines the two normally standalone ways of creating Rose Champagne: assemblage (blending) and saignee (bleeding.) 30% is made up of macerating Meunier on its skins, 10% is still red Meunier and 60% is white wine from Meunier. Of that 60% – just less than half is a reserve wine of several years that has rested in barrels. It is mostly from the 2020 vintage and after 20 months on its lees was disgorged with a minimal dosage of 2.5 grams per liter.
