Henriet Bazin Leonard Brut Rose 1.5L
Grand Cru. Grower This is made up of 70% 2019 with the balance from a solera that stretches from 1968 to 2018. A blend of 50/50 Chardonnay and Pinot Noir with 19% of the Pinot vinified as a red by Henriet Bazin themselves. Kept on the lees for 36 months this was disgorged with a dosage of 7 gr/l. The color in the glass is a bit lighter versus the 2018 base. The nose opens with a hit of berries with complementary notes of light cream and a touch of pomegranate. The palate is just shy of moderate in weight with clotted cream, clay minerality and an ample fruit component that echoes the nose, predominantly strawberry and pomegranate. From the father and daughter team of Henriet-Bazin. The original Henriet family specialized in Champagne production whereas the Bazins were grape growers. They have been producing stellar wine from Grand and Premier Cru vineyards in the Montagne de Reims. Their prestigious vineyards are situated in the Grand Cru villages of Verzy and Verzenay renowned for the excellence of the Pinot Noir. Prestigious houses such as Krug, Bollinger and Louis Roederer source the Pinots of these villages. Which gives immense character and style to their blends.
