Billecart-Salmon 2012 Cuvee Elizabeth Rose Champagne

Tasted from Jeroboam April 2024, in San Francisco. This pours a slightly darker hue in the glass versus a standard Billecart Salmon rose and has a more upright and stout presence to it. The nose opens with spring citrus fruits (tangerine and blood orange) in addition to red berries, mint, chalk, mixed flowers, and just there clotted cream. From Jeroboam this is still tightly wound on the palate with blood orange, peach and red berries, and a core of chalky minerality. This is youthful, and we suspect that it will be much more open knit from regular sized bottle-- tremendous stuff here. D&M Tasting NotesThe 2012 Brut Rosé Cuvée Elizabeth Salmon offers up hints of red berry fruit, ginger, spice, rosewater, mint and crushed flowers. There is a feeling of classic austerity that runs through the 2012. I would prefer to cellar this for at least a few years, as it is quite reticent at this stage. Chalk, mint, white pepper and bright saline accents linger on the pointed finish. Dosage is 3.8 grams per liter. Disgorged: first trimester 2023. 96 Points Vinous, March 2024
