Tzum Oak Ridge 2020 Spring Ephemeral Pinot Noir

If wine is a snapshot of place and time, this shows what Hood River was like in 2020. This shows a bit of, shall we say, mesquite smoke with light minerality, dark cherry, and sugar plum. The palate is moderate in weight for a Pinot with smoky savory dark fruits and a earth and toasted spice mix. D&M Tasting Notes

Oak Ridge is the northernmost vineyard in the Columbia Gorge. It was planted in the mid ’80s at 1,400 feet, in ashy loam, on a ridge 23 miles south of Mt. Adams. The site is farmed biodynamically with monastic dedication by Thomas and Marlene Woodward. The wine we make is from a one-acre parcel of Pinot Noir, located mid-slope on the west side of the site.
