Spirit Works Distillery Sloe Gin

Our traditional sloe gin recipe has been handed down through the Marshall family for generations. In England, foraging the wild berries, steeping them in gin, and making the liqueur has been part of rural family tradition for centuries. Each batch starts with whole sloe berries, a tiny relative of the plum, which we carefully steep in our handcrafted gin. This vibrantly-hued liqueur features both bright berry and citrus notes, combining ripe sweetness with fresh acidity. Distillery Notes

Traditionally sloe gin is served after a meal by itself as a digestive, but its unique color and flavor also combine wonderfully with a wide variety of spirits and cocktails. Distillery Notes

Sloe-Groni

1½ oz. Gin

¾ oz. Campari

¾ oz. sloe gin  

Orange twist

Add all of the ingredients to a mixing glass with ice, then stir to chill. Strain into a chilled coupe, then garnish.

Tonic Water 

Lime Wedge 

Combine the gin and sloe gin in a highball glass with ice cubes. Top with tonic water and garnish with lime wedge. Spirit Works Recipe

Timo hails from a small village in England, where his family has been refining their sloe gin recipe for generations, using sloes picked every autumn along the coastal hills. Ashby, on the other hand, has a deep passion and impressive palate for whiskey and its intricacies. She is West Coast bred and thrilled to be the first distiller in her family.

They were quite intentional about how they wanted to run their business, and focused on the grain to glass model. In this process (which echoes how distilling used to be done) new grain comes into the distillery, where it is then milled down, fermented, and then run through two distillations before hitting the barrel. The leftover grain goes to a local farmer to be used as feed- free of charge to the farmer and the pig. Today, Ashby has stepped back from distilling duty and has Krystal Gaulart at the helm.
