Fort Ross-Seaview. From Waterhorse Ridge Vineyard in Far Sonoma, this is a coastal Bordeaux. The nose shows pink peppercorn, sweet cassis, dusty currant, cedar, cocoa, and a hit of minerals. The palate is moderate in weight with a balanced cocoa, spice, cassis, and just there oak flavors. D&M Tasting Notes
A Field blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Petit Verdot and Malbec from Greer Vineyard, Cazadero California.
Our flagship wine from the beautiful Greer (Waterhorse Ridge) Vineyardin Fort Ross-Seaview. Planted in 1997 by Jesus Velasquez and Patricia Greer, the tiny (2-acre) Waterhorse Ridge Vineyard sits at 1700 feet high on Stewart Ridge, well above the fog-line. Warm days, cool nights and a constant breeze from the Pacific Ocean allow the Bordeaux varieties (Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Petit Verdot and Malbec) planted here to ripen slowly and evenly resulting in a beautifully nuanced wine that is lighter and fresher than its counterparts further inland. Flavors of black olive, tobacco and cassis follow a nose with herbal notes, black cherry and a hint of pencil lead. The wine is medium-bodied and sits nicely on the palette with plenty of texture, pleasant acidity and soft tannins. We feel this is an excellent candidate for the cellar and should continue to evolve into itself for the next 10-15 years. Winery Notes
