Practicing Organic. This was totally Karen's favorite in the full and present flavor set. The nose shows earth, tar, animal, dried cherry, and a hit of crushed black rocks. The palate is quite present and full with a sun-soaked deep dessicated cherry, some barnyard, a firm grip of tannin, earth, tar, cedar, and minerals. D&M Tasting Notes
This Riserva comes from Montepulciano vines averaging 30 years; they grow in calcareous, silty clay, rich in sandstone at 400 meters above sea level. The grapes macerated on their skins 15 days and the wine aged two years in stainless steel (to preserve freshness) then two years in 10-20 hectoliter Slavonian oak. (10% stayed in third pass French barrique). Importer Notes
