• Krug 2002 Soloist Orchestra Gift Box Champagne

1 bottle of Krug 2002 D'Ambonnay, 1 bottle 2002 Vintage Brut, 1 Bottle 158th Edition all presented in a beautiful Wooden Box.

The 2002 Clos d’Ambonnay is another spectacular Champagne from Krug. In fact, the 2002 may very well be the most sensual Clos d’Ambonnay yet. Opulent, intense and yet light on its feet, the 2002 has it all. Hints of ash, graphite and smoke wrap around a core of rich Pinot fruit in a powerful, riveting wine of the highest level. Chef de Caves Eric Lebel describes 2002 as a perfect growing season. “We had sun we wanted it and rain we needed it,” he told me recently. The Krug team captured everything the vintage had to offer, certainly to a far greater degree than they did with the 2002 Clos du Mesnil or Vintage. Readers who can find the 2002 Clos d’Ambonnay and who can look past the price will experience a seriously phenomenal Champagne. That’s all there is to it. 98 Points Antonio Galloni, Vinous July 2018

This is perhaps the best bottle of Krug's 2002 Vintage I have tasted. Expansive and creamy on the palate, with lovely finesse and brightness, the 2002 is quite expressive today. I don't see the depth or pedigree that might place this wine among the best examples of the year. Instead, the 2002 Vintage continues to be an underwhelming wine by Krug standards. 94 Points Antonio Galloni, Vinous July 2017

The NV Grande Cuvée 158 Edition, based on 2002, is terrific. Radiant, supple and super-inviting, the 158 is a super-expressive today. Apricot, peach, toast, chamomile, pastry and wild flowers all develop in the glass, but it is the wine's textural feel that is most remarkable. 95 Points Antonio Galloni, Vinous July 2017
