Jolie Laide 2022 Glou d'Etat Red Wine

This is meant as a playful easy drinking red wine at a more approachable price versus most core Jolie Laide offerings. A red wine blend of 38% Valdigue, 33% Mourvedre, 17% Grenache, and 12% a mix of Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Petit Verdot. The nose shows a bright approachable style with red fruits, garrigue, cedar shavings and pepper spice. The palate is light and bright with lifted red berries, a light hit of pepper and some cedar on the exhale. D&M Tasting Notes

Founded by Scott Schultz in 2010, Jolie-Laide is distinct in its focus on unusual varietals including Trousseau Gris, Trousseau Noir, Valdiguie and Cabernet Pfeffer. In fact, the name "Jolie-Laide" itself which loosely translates to "Pretty-Ugly" in French, refers to the beauty of the unconventional, which is something that his wines absolutely deliver on! Starting with just 500 cases in that first year, today, Scott and his wife Jenny today produce upwards of 2,000 cases annually and we are grateful to grab whatever we can with each successive allocation.  Winery Notes
