• Jolie-Laide 2016 North Coast Syrah

This is sourced from two vineyards sites in the Yorkville Highlands. The nose shows quite a bit of Syrah's essence with flowers, pepper and a light spice tone. D&M Tasting Notes

This is the first year we did a North Coast Syrah, but it won’t be the last. It’s essentially a blend of two Yorkville Highlands vineyard sites, the rugged high elevation Halcon Vineyard and the equally compelling Hawks Butte Vineyard which sits at 1200 ft. elevation with rocky, south facing slopes.

The grapes are all crushed by foot and fermented whole cluster, with nothing more than gentle punchdowns throughout. Pressed to old, neutral French oak barrique for a 10 month elevage, capturing and preserving the delicate and expressive nature. Hawks Butte adds slightly more density and fruit while still wildly fresh with lithe tannin and the Halcon compliments with brooding structure, wet earth, camphor and cedar. Winery Notes
