• Jean Philippe Fichet 2017 Meursault

From three parcels Les Cloux, Les Charmes de Narvaux, and Gouttes d'Or. This is farmed organically and was aged for 18 months mostly in neutral oak. The nose shows butterscotch, a light Necco wafer with lemon oil and light stone fruits. The palate is moderate in weight with good acidity and a flavor set of light citrus with a lemon oil and a touch of stone fruits that is brought together by stony minerality on the finish. Delicious! D&M Tasting Notes

Fichet has flown largely under the world’s radar. He began as a grower in 1981 but was forced to rebuild his domaine from scratch in the 1990s, having lost all his best fruit sources—including a piece of Meursault-Perrières—for lack of long-term contracts. But he learned from this experience. By 2000, he had used carefully negotiated long-term fermage and mètayage agreements to create an extraordinary new domaine, brimming with exceptional sites.
