• Gaston Chiquet Rose Brut Champagne

This Premier Cru Grower Champagne rose Tasted 11/19, is based around the 2015 harvest and is made up of 40% Pinot Muenier, 35% Chardonnay, and 25% Pinot Noir. The nose shows a light and clean strawberry aroma set that transfers over the palate with a just there strawberry and cream peeking through the core of minerality . D&M Tasting Notes

The Chiquet family can trace its expertise in tending vines back eight generations to their ancestor Nicolas Chiquet who began winemaking in 1746. After World War I, the Chiquet brothers broke with longstanding tradition: rather than selling grapes to the large houses, they struck out alone and sold Champagne from grapes they grew themselves. In 1935, Gaston Chiquet separated his lots from his brother’s and began to expand his holdings in the Montagne de Riems. Today Gaston’s grandsons Antoine and Nicolas work 56 acres in the villages of Dizy, Aÿ, Mareuil-sur-Aÿ and Hautvillers. The bottle is something of a pleasant anomaly as it pertains to place and time.
