Farm Cottage Wines 2021 Trout Gulch Chardonnay

From the beloved Trout Gulch vineyard site in the Santa Cruz mountains, this is a new project from second generation winemaker Ryan Alfaro. The nose shows a cleaner and more focused style of Chardonnay with light lemon oil, apricot, nectarine, and a kiss of butterscotch. The palate is just shy of moderate in weight with an acid driven style and a flavor set of lemon, nectarine, and a judicious note of oak and butterscotch. D&M Tasting Notes

Established in 1980, this 16 acre dry-farmed vineyard is nestled in the Santa Cruz Mountains near the coastal town of Aptos. The site sits at 750 feet above sea level and has well-draining sandy loam soil. The vineyard was planted to Wente Chardonnay and its proximity to the sea (less than 4 miles inland) assures the grapes receive the cooling influence of the Monterey Bay. Winery Notes
