Eric Rodez is the mayor of Ambonnay, This is entirely Pinot Noir from 2013 back to 2008 in descending percentages. The nose shows wonderful yellow plum, minerals, and just oak spice. This has the texture of the 85% oak barrels with stone fruits, minerals and oak in amazing harmony. This is lovely Multi-vintage stuff! D&M Tasting Notes
For the last three centuries, the Champagne soil has shaped our family from generation upon generation. At times we were masons, at others carpenters – woodworkers, but from an early age we attached ourselves to the vines. These vines which provided Ambonnay with its precious nectar for almost a thousand years have signed their presence in all of the grand historical symbols of our country side. At that time Champagne’s country side was ruthless in the sense that only the greatest of terroirs could hope to trade their wines in the market places. Of this time remains our village’s architectural footprint, a small town gathered together around small streets lined by the walls of wine properties.
Brut champagne made only from Pinot Noir. From a terroir that express power and length. This champagne uses 70% of wine which no malolactic fermentation. As with blanc de blancs, this blanc de noirs is made from 5 to 6 vintages vinified in 70% in small barrels.
This champagne has a sustained gold color. The powerful nose is marked by red fruits with hints of dried fruit and candied fruit. The palate is powerful and muscular all in balance with freshness. Champagne House Notes
