• Elio Altare 2018 Dolcetto d' Alba

The 2018 Dolcetto d'Alba is a very pretty wine with terrific varietal character to match its mid-weight personality. Although Dolcetto does not get a ton of love, it has long been one of the many strong suits here. The 2018 is a bit lighter than most editions—that is the vintage—but it also has terrific nuance as well as complexity, with hints of leather, cedar, licorice and tobacco wrapped around a core of dark plum fruit.   89 Points Antonio Galloni, Vinous March 2020

Produced from 20 to 40 year old vines farmed organically on the calcareous inflected sandy soils of La Morra. Fermentation with indigenous yeast and maceration with the skins for a few days followed by aging in stainless steel tank before bottling. Altare's Dolcetto offers a deep, intense color with aromas of violets and black fruits. Medium bodied and very approachable with soft, delicate tannins, this juicy dry red is an excellent everyday wine that can even handle a slight chill. Highly versatile and ideal with antipasti, pasta, pizza, and panini. ~20,000 bottle production. Importer Notes
