The nose of this lovely rose shows light stone fruits with raspberry, white minerals and a touch of strawberry. The palate is deft and taunt with white stone fruits and a light mineral edge with moderate acidity and great focus. D&M Tasting Notes
The NV Brut Rosé Grand Cru pulses with real energy. Cranberry, white flowers, chalk and mint give the Rosé an airy brightness, especially in the aromatics, but there is plenty of depth as well. Far from an easygoing wine, Egly's Rosé has the charm to drink well as an aperitif as well as the structure to pair with just about anything at the dinner table. I would give it a few months in bottle, as the wine appears to still be recovering from its recent disgorgement in July, 2019. 93 Points Antonio Galloni, Vinous December 2019
Egly-Ouriet produces, vinous, terroir expressive Champagne primarily from the great Grand Cru village of Ambonnay (the top village for Pinot Noir in Champagne), where he is widely regarded as the finest grower. Owner and winemaker Francis Egly farms old vine Pinot Noir and Chardonnay – 45 years old on average – from some of the most prized and revered vineyards in all of Champagne. Because of the quality of the estate fruit and Francis’s commitment to incredibly low yields, dosage is kept very low (normally between 1-3 grams), adding to the intensity and character of the wines. Egly is a staunch believer that truly great Champagne must have extended lees aging, with some wines aged up to 9 years before disgorgement! It is clear the wines of Egly-Ouriet stand alone at the summit of intense, complex, and minerally precise Champagnes.
