Domaine Vincent Paris 2019 Granit 30 Cornas

This is a "back vintage" Cornas and we are so very happy to have it. The 2019 vintage was excellent in the northern Rhone and this is singing right now. The nose shows a wonderful mix of light pepper spice, black flowers, raspberry, deep cherry and kirsch with a just there savory edge. The palate is moderate in weight with a lovely mix of pepper, flowers, red and black fruits. D&M Tasting Notes

The wines at this domaine, established in 1997, strike a balance between modern and traditional styles, showing freshness and forward fruit, with well-managed tannins and oak, as no new barrels are used. The soft-spoken Vincent Paris also tends to bottle on the early side “to preserve the wines’ freshness and energy.” Paris’ Granit 30 and Granit 60 Cornas bottlings are, indeed, consistently among the most approachable of the appellation in most vintages. However, his marquee La Geynale, made from 100+ year old vines that he took over from his uncle, Robert Michel, is one of the most age-worthy, even age-demanding wines not just of Cornas but of the entire northern Rhône. Even better, in the context of high-end wines of the region it is an amazing value relative to most of its peers, at least for now. Josh Raynolds, Vinous
