Chateau Leoville 1995 Las Cases Saint-Julien Bordeaux

Very good ruby-red color. Expressive, pungent aromas of blueberry, raspberry, game and roasted nuts. Sweet and velvety yet still rather closed following the bottling. Lively acidity gives the wine a penetrating quality. Not quite as weighty as the '96, but stylish and impeccably balanced. 89 PointsStephen Tanzer, Vinous, May 1998

"The wine boasts an opaque ruby/purple color, & exceptionally pure, beautifully knit aromas of black fruits, minerals, vanillin, & spice. On the attack, it is staggeringly rich, yet displays more noticeable tannin than its younger sibling. Exceptionally ripe cassis fruit, the judicious use of toasty new oak, & a thrilling mineral character intertwined w/the high quality of fruit routinely obtained by Las Cases, make this a compelling effort. The finish is incredibly long in this classic."—R Parker, Jr. (2/1998)
