The Champagne has a nose of fresh light cream, citrus oil, and a high note of white fleshed tropical fruits. The palate is focused with a mineral core surrounded by citrus and light tropical fruits. The acidity of this Champagne is fantastically suited to fish and higher acid vegetable dishes. This cuvee comes during a time of change for Brocard Pierre as the forth generation, Thibaud Brocard, has taken over from his parents, Pierre and Catherine Brocard. Thibaud hopes to inject new thoughts on terroir to his family’s wines. Thibaud has lead the wine towards a more terroir driven style. The soils in Celles Sur Ource in the South are made up of bands of Kimmeridgian soil, common to Chablis 25 miles to the Southwest. These soils have proven their abilityto grow truly exquisite white wines in Chablis and we would argue the Celles Sur Ource can also produce some equally compelling Champagnes. This Blanc de Blancs is a blend of 90% Chardonnay and 10% Pinot Blanc from the 2009 vintage.
