This is a lovely light bright Nebbiolo from a renowned Barolo producer. The nose is bright with red cherry, orange peel, and a light earth/ truffle tone. The palate is moderate in weight with a light truffle, red berry and a hit of minerals. D&M Tasting Notes
The 2016 Langhe Nebbiolo gives us a very encouraging glimpse into the future. Nebbiolo from this cool vintage is phenomenal, and we should have some beautiful surprises very soon when the 2016 Barbarescos and Barolos are released. For now, we can enjoy a wine like this. Aged in stainless steel, this expression opens to a beautiful ruby hue with dark garnet highlights. The effect is crisp, luminous and bright. The varietal purity is especially evident on the bouquet, thanks to cassis, wild rose, blueberry and fresh almond aromas. The vines are 20 years old on average. 91 Points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate June 2018.
Langhe DOC Nebbiolo is produced from the youngest vines, 20 years old on average, located part in Castiglione Falletto and part in Serralunga d'Alba.
All the sites have a south and south-west exposure and the vines could be destined to the production of Nebbiolo for Barolo. Every year, however, Luigi uses these grapes not to produce Barolo but an outstanding Langhe DOC Nebbiolo.
The vineyard in Castiglione is situated right under Bricco Fiasco, while in Serralunga the grapes come from the Barolo Base vineyard. Winery Notes
